Starting on the Right Wordpress SEO Foot

Sometimes you just can’t figure it all out be yourself.  When it comes to something like SEO, I have always relied on the skills and research of others.  The brilliant part is that at my work, when out ‘real’ SEO people are busy I have to answer the questions.  Which is cool and makes me feel like a rockstar.

But in today’s case I am not going to take any of the credit.

For my other blog which I am starting I need to have a substantial amount of organic search engine traffic, so I need to really SEO the crap out of my blog.  I don’t really have a process in place (and hopefully one day I will create a ‘getting started checklist’) to maximize the power of SEO right from the start.  Thankfully someone else has done it for me.

When I was at Wordcamp this year, I was fortunate enough to sit in a Wordpress SEO workshop with Ross Dunn from Stepforth Web Marketing Inc (has a great SEO blog that I highly recommend).  For the presentation Ross had put together a Wordpress site that covered the basics of getting started on the right foot with SEO for your Wordpress blog.  So I am not going to ramble on here about starting Wordpress SEO as Ross has done a great job with his blog: www.wordpressseo.ca.

I am not sure how much he will be updating the site (but maybe one day he will allow guest posts…), but at least the basics are there.  So take some time to read through the How to SEO Wordpress blog, and get started on the right foot.
